How wonderful to be able to say goodbye to the Covid lockdowns, masks and isolation. Freddie and I have witnessed this first-hand on our month-long overseas trip. Everyone was gathering, talking, visiting, eating, etc. and it was great. I did paint during the pandemic but now I have a wealth of new material from photos (and I took plenty) from our travels. We met so many interesting people on our travels and visited so many interesting places. Look for new artwork in the coming months along with more commission pet portraits which I LOVE to do.
I brought paintings as gifts to my friends in England and Northern Ireland. I painted their pets and did a landscape painting (special request). We managed to pack everything up in a large box, surrounded the paintings with lots of packing air bags and added a large FRAGILE tag to the handle of the box. The box was then covered with a luggage cover (something I had never heard of), We checked the box in as checked in luggage since it was too large to fit in the overhead at a cost of $50. I must say, I was happily surprised that the box was taken good care of. No smashed box, no rips, no tears. YAY!!!
In addition to painting and drawing, I have decided to help organize a high school reunion for next year. No small undertaking since I live in Florida and the reunion will be in New Jersey. I'll keep you posted.
While I was away, one of my paintings garnered a ribbon (honorable mention) in a Women's Club Florida state art contest. I painted this with acrylic paint on paper, drew and then cut out the image. After hand embellishing with doodle art using acrylic pens, the painting was then mounted on black board.
